Registration Underway for AMH Foundation’s 30th Annual Frank M. James Golf Tournament

JEFFERSON, N.C. — The Ashe Memorial Hospital Foundation will host its 30th Annual Frank M. James Golf Tournament on Thursday, September 26, 2024, at Jefferson Landing Golf Club.

Frank M. James, the namesake of Ashe Memorial Hospital’s annual golf tournament for the past three decades, is a man who greatly contributed to the community that we know and love today by dedicating much of his 83 years to education and public service. Ashe Memorial Hospital was the beneficiary of his service for 34 continuous years, as he served on the Board of Trustees from 1961-1995 and as president from 1983-1995.

“As we prepare for the 30th Annual Frank M. James Golf Tournament it is fitting to reflect on the many contributions of Mr. James and his unwavering service to the community and in particular, Ashe Memorial Hospital,” Ashe Memorial Hospital Foundation Board President John Johnston said. “It is his great legacy over these past 30 years that have helped make Ashe Memorial Hospital one of the highest rated and successful hospitals in our state and in no small part to what Mr. James started and what the Foundation has been honored to continue. On behalf of the Foundation Board, it is my honor to pay tribute to Mr. Frank James in this 30th year of the golf tournament bearing his name.”

The tournament features a Captain’s Choice format with flights beginning at 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. Registration will begin at 7:30 a.m. for Flight 1 and 12:30 p.m. for Flight 2. Coffee and biscuits will be provided as well as a catered lunch. Prizes will be awarded for first and second place net, first and second place gross and closest to the pin on par 3’s. Players can also swing for a chance to win $10,000 in our Hole-in-One Challenge.

New to the tournament this year will be the addition of the Beat the Pro Challenge. Golfers will have the opportunity to challenge a lady professional golfer to a closest to the pin contest for a chance to win a prize.

Tournament sponsorship opportunities, ranging from hole, corporate and lunch level sponsors to driving range, putting green and tournament level sponsors are available. Non-golf sponsorship opportunities, including Beat the Pro, hole-in-one, closest to the pin and beverage and snack cart, also are available. For additional information on sponsorship opportunities and to register, please visit our golf tournament website at www.amhfoundationgolf.com.

“It's truly inspiring to see the way the Ashe County community comes together at this event to support and raise funds for Ashe Memorial Hospital,” AMH Foundation Director Becky Pearson said. “With the 30th anniversary of this golf tournament fundraiser, the AMH Foundation celebrates the legacy of Frank M. James as an exemplary civic-minded leader who inspires us all to give back to the community we love so dearly.”

The tournament will serve as the Ashe Memorial Hospital Foundation’s primary fundraising event for 2024. The deadline to sign up for this year’s tournament is Friday, August 30. Proceeds from the event assist the hospital with important projects, equipment purchases and program support.
“This golf tournament is a staple in the AMH Foundation’s efforts to raise funds to furnish all the projects, upgrades to infrastructure, medical equipment and technology necessary to provide the care and services that make Ashe Memorial what it is today, simply the best little community hospital in the state,” Johnston said.
