Ashe Oncology and Hematology, we understand the uncertainty that comes with cancer, and we work quickly to deliver accurate diagnoses and world-class treatment so you and your loved ones can rest assured you are receiving the best care available. Ashe Oncology and Hematology currently only takes patients by referral.
Ashe Oncology and Hematology continues to accept new patients. The clinic is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with clinic days on Wednesdays and Thursdays.
Our services include:
Board-certified oncologists to oversee your care. These skilled providers will work to accurately diagnose your cancer, present your treatment options and guide you as you choose the best treatment option for you.
Certified nurses to provide care and support throughout your treatment. These dedicated providers will develop a unique plan of care for you based on both your medical needs and personal desires. They also make home visits to complete needed bloodwork prior to appointments.
Chemotherapy services close to home.
Radiation services. Patients needing radiation as part of their cancer treatment will be referred to the Seby B. Jones Cancer Center in Boone, North Carolina.
A network of cancer care. Should you need care from a tertiary facility, you will be referred to Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Your providers at the Ashe Oncology and Hematology will continue to be involved in your care.
Our Providers
Ayla Kessler, MD
Dr. Ayla Kessler is a board-certified oncologist. A native of Egypt, Dr. Kessler earned her medical degree from the University of Mansoura Faculty of Medicine in Mansoura City, Egypt, in 2005. She completed her Residency in Internal Medicine at Indiana University Health at Ball Memorial Hospital, in Muncie, Ind., in 2010. Dr. Kessler then went on to complete a Medical Oncology Fellowship at Roswell Park Cancer Institute, in Buffalo, N.Y., in 2012.
Flint Gray, MD
Dr. Flint Gray received his Medical Degree from Emory University School of Medicine in 1987. Dr. Gray brings more than 20 years of Oncology experience to Ashe Oncology. Dr. Gray is originally from Kingsport, Tennessee. He enjoys running, bicycling, skiing and playing golf.
Cathy Clark, FNP-BC
Cathy Clark is a family nurse practitioner certified by ANCC. Cathy obtained a master of science in nursing from UNC Chapel Hill and graduated in 2006. She obtained her bachelor of nursing from UNC Charlotte in 2004 and her associate degree from Surry Community College in 1994. Cathy also has a bachelor of science from Appalachian State University.

Ashe Oncology and Hematology is in the Segraves Building on the campus of Ashe Memorial Hospital.
