Daniel Krontz, MD is the owner of Western Carolina Eye Associates and has been a part of the WCEA team for 28 years. Dr. Krontz joined Western Carolina Eye Associates in July of 1987 and has been caring for High Country residents ever since. Dr. Krontz has performed over 15,000 cataract surgeries in the High Country. His special surgical interests are cataract surgery, glaucoma surgery, and corneal transplants but he is extremely proficient at a variety of ophthalmic procedures. For your convenience he performs surgeries in Watauga, Ashe, and Avery Counties. Dr. Krontz has built a team of caring medical professionals and looks forward to serving this community for many years to come. When Dr. Krontz isn't performing surgery or caring for our patients' eyes, he can be found volunteering at his church where he and his wife are heavily involved in the youth program. You will find him doing anything from painting large murals for Vacation Bible School to facilitating a giant water balloon fight for the youth group; he does it all! He also devotes his spare time to mission work when possible and he encourages his staff to participate in local health fairs. His other interests include fishing and enjoying the beautiful mountains.
